Tau Theta chapter of Chi Omega at William Woods University was one of 37 chapters that received the Chapter of Excellence Award from their national organization for their outstanding performance during the 2014-2015 school year.
To win the award, the chapter scored above 85 percent on their performance card, which evaluates the performance as a chapter, focusing on Chi Omega’s six principles: friendship, personal integrity, service to others, academic excellence and intellectual pursuits, community and campus involvement and personal and career development.
Founded in 1895 at the University of Arkansas, Chi Omega has more than 330,000 initiates and 178 collegiate chapters.
“Only 37 chapters received this recognition, ranking the William Woods University Tau Theta chapter of Chi Omega in the top 20 percent in the nation,” said senior Isabella Long of Fulton, Missouri, who is Chi Omega marketing chair. “We couldn’t be more proud.”
Baily Peterson, a May 2015 WWU graduate from Cedarburg, Wisconsin, was president of the chapter during 2014, and Marilee Rogers of Big Spring, Texas, is the current president. Laura Steinback of Fulton, Missouri, chairs the Chi Omega advisory board.
“I cannot be more proud of the chapter’s accomplishments this past year. Their hard work and determination have been recognized appropriately,” said Steinback. “Being in the top 20 percent of the world’s largest women’s fraternal organization is an accomplishment that should not be taken lightly.”
