he National Association of Charitable Gift Planners is investigating holding a “Day on the Hill” event in conjunction with the National Conference on Philanthropic Planning held in Baltimore on October 9-11. The "Day on the Hill" event would take place on Thursday, October 12. Round trip bus transportation would be provided in the morning from the conference hotel in Baltimore to the Capitol for pre-arranged meetings with both Senate and House offices. The buses would return to the conference hotel in the late afternoon.

The men of Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) at William Woods University recently took pies in their faces for a good cause—one that personally affected one of their members nearly five years ago. The fraternity hosted a Pie-a-Pike fundraiser for the Scleroderma Foundation March 16, raising $300. The Pikes also raised $500 during their philanthropy week, Pikes Peak, March 17-19.

Artists Jennifer Wiggs and Chris Teeter will exhibit their abstract art at William Woods University’s Mildred Cox Gallery Aug. 24–Sept. 27. An opening reception will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts. Abstract art is artwork that does not try to symbolize reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.

Other officers are Christi Slizewski Tennyson ’97 of St. Peters, Missouri, vice president; Leigh Hailey Kieffer ’72 of Kansas City, Missouri, secretary; and Meredith Varnell Leslie ’95 of Dayton, Ohio, treasurer. They will serve terms of two years.
